PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT due to the observance of Good Friday, the official ballot draw for the 2020 Primary Election to be held on Friday, April 10, 2020 at 3:00PM will NOW be held on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at 3:00PM in the Municipal Clerk’s office located at 1 E. Main Street, Rockaway, NJ.

ORDINANCE TO EXCEED THE MUNICIPAL BUDGET APPROPRIATION LIMITS AND TO ESTABLISH A CAP BANK (N.J.S.A. 40A:4-45.14)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above entitled ordinance was duly considered and finally adopted by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Rockaway at a meeting held on February 13, 2020 at the Community Center, 21-25 Union Street, Rockaway, New Jersey.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a complete copy of said ordinance may be obtained at no charge at the Office of the Borough Clerk, 1 East Main Street, Rockaway, New Jersey, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

ORDINANCE DESCRIPTION: This ordinance authorizes the Borough of Rockaway, that, in the CY 2020 budget year, the final appropriations of the Borough of Rockaway shall be increased by 3.5%, amounting to $332,991.00, and that the CY 2020 municipal budget for the Borough of Rockaway be approved and adopted in accordance with this ordinance. Any amount authorized that is not appropriated as part of the final budget shall be retained as an exception to final appropriation in either of the next two succeeding years.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Reviews

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is conducting its first Five-Year Review of the Rockaway Borough Wellfield Superfund Site located in Rockaway Borough, Morris County, New Jersey. This review seeks to confirm that the cleanup conducted at the site, which included:

  1. wellhead treatment of the borough supply wells;
  2. potentially responsible party groundwater extraction and treatment system;
  3. EPA-lead groundwater extraction and treatment system;
  4. potentially responsible party soil vapor extraction system; and
  5. EPA-lead soil vapor and extraction system to ensure the effectiveness of the remedy continues to be protective of public health and the environment and is functioning as designed.

Notice to Bidders

2020 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project: The work to be performed under this contract includes rehabilitation of approximately five (5) sanitary sewer manholes within various public rights-of-way and streets with a cementitious lining as listed in the Technical Specifications and shown on the plans.
